On April 29, 2025, Dr. Tiffany Joseph, Associate Professor of Sociology and International Affairs at Northeastern University, delivered a thought-provoking talk as part of the IIH Speaker Series at Harvard University. Drawing from her new book, Not All In: Race, Immigration, and Healthcare Exclusion in the Age of Obamacare (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2025), Dr. Joseph examined the complex intersections of public policy, immigration, healthcare access, and racial dynamics across the Americas. Her presentation illuminated the persistent challenges and inequalities immigrants face in accessing healthcare under the Affordable Care Act, revealing how structural racism and anti-immigrant policies continue to shape health outcomes.
