Zainab Shabbir is a dedicated and versatile developmental psychology researcher with a strong passion for understanding identity development, particularly in diverse and marginalized populations, such as, first generation migrants and refugees. With an ongoing Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology from Clark University and extensive international experience spanning Italy, Belgium, and Pakistan, Zainab has honed her expertise in areas such as educational and developmental psychology, migration, refugee education, identity development, bilingualism, and cultural developmental contexts.
Her research journey has been marked by a commitment to exploring identity development, parenting dynamics, and the impact of cultural influences on individual growth. Zainab’s multifaceted research portfolio includes investigating the role of phenotypical characteristics in shaping ethno-racial identity, designing studies on religious identity among migrant youth, and contributing to understanding neuromyths in educational settings associated with migrant youth.
Beyond research, Zainab has demonstrated a strong commitment to community service, consultancy, and mentoring. She has actively engaged in projects aimed at supporting psychosocial well-being in diverse communities, advocating for inclusive education, and promoting mental health awareness. Zainab’s dedication to her field is underscored by her technical proficiency in data analytics, project management, and grant proposal writing, complemented by her fluency in multiple languages.
