Current IIH FellowVisiting Scholar from Fonds de recherche du Québec – Société et culture, School Climate Perspectives Research Project Coordinator
Dr. Calderon-Moya focuses on the intersections of education, immigration, and marginalization. She holds an M.A. in Educational Leadership and a Ph.D. in Educational Studies from the Faculty of Education, McGill University. Her dissertation examined the integration experiences of skilled Latin American immigrants related to their education and employment in French-speaking Quebec to understand how perceived systemic discrimination could influence their attitudes towards interprovincial migration. As part of her scholar work, she participated in several projects exploring issues related to underrepresented populations, such as Latin American immigrant communities, young adult Syrian refugees, and youth with disabilities. As a Visiting Scholar at Immigration Initiative at Harvard and a FRQSC (Fonds de recherche du Québec – Société et culture) Postdoctoral Fellow, she is particularly interested in the experiences of students of Latin American immigrant-origin. Her work has been published in various academic journals, such as the Journal for Contemporary Issues in Education and the Journal of Canadian Ethnic Studies.
