Juan Cruz is an M.Phil student in Quantitative Methods at the University of Pennsylvania. His research interests lie in the impact of integrating the identity of migrant students in the classroom and school environment. He is especially interested in examining how Latine/o/a/x and LGBTQ+ migrant students perceive themselves in school culture and how this influences their education experience. Juan is also interested in raising awareness pertaining to the lack of survey data available coming directly from immigrant students.

Juan grew up in rural Mexico, moving to the United States when he was 15. He obtained his B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley, in Applied Mathematics. Before returning to academia, Juan spent four years as a Senior Analyst working for YouthTruth Student Survey. At YouthTruth, Juan evaluated student, family, and staff feedback and delivered over 3000 data-driven reports with equity as a central focus.
