Angie N. Ocampo
Angie N. Ocampo is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Sociology at the University of Pennsylvania. Ocampo’s research focuses on the diversity of the Latina/o/x immigrant experience in the US, focusing on their integration into the racial hierarchy and their political incorporation. Her dissertation focuses on both sides of the incorporation process: how native-born White and Black Americans shape the process of social acceptance of Latinos, as well as how immigrant Latinos view their White and Black counterparts. This project uses a series of novel survey experiments to examine which boundaries are salient in shaping how Latinos are viewed by others. Ocampo's work has been published in Latino Studies and the ANNALS of the American Academy of Political and Social Science.
