Education and Intercultural Identity
On November 12, 2024, Agostino Portera, Ph.D., full professor of intercultural education and head of the Centre for Intercultural Studies at the University of Verona, delivered a talk for the IIH Speaker Series titled “Education and Intercultural Identity.” Drawing from his extensive scholarship in immigration, identity, and intercultural education, Dr. Portera explored the challenges and opportunities of fostering intercultural competence in today’s globalized world. His presentation reflected themes from his book, Education and Intercultural Identity: A Dialogue between Zygmunt Bauman and Agostino Portera, which discusses contemporary issues such as global normativity, religious pluralism, and the evolving nature of identity in multicultural societies.
